“I help people with their pain. Sometimes it’s injuries, sometimes just aches and pains. I know it seems like a luxury, and there is a lot of that, too, but my favorite clients are the ones where I can help improve their quality of life.”
I can’t stop my lips from curving up into a smile. Pushing off the wall, I hold Thea a little tighter as I move toward her. I stop when I’m close enough to touch her.
I curl my fingers around the side of her throat before I slide my thumb across her bottom lip. I don’t know why I love doing that so fucking much, but I really do.
“You’re a good one, Keely Mercer. I don’t know how in the fuck I found you, twice, but I don’t think I could be happier that I did.”
She smiles, rising to her toes before her lips touch mine. When she speaks, my mouth stays connected to hers. If I could keep her attached to me on a permanent basis, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t mind.
“I’m happy I found you, too, Brock. What a wild ride we’ve had so far, and what an exciting future we have ahead of us,” she whispers.
“Let’s get out of here and see our new home. It’s ready for us,” I murmur against her mouth.
She takes a step backward, her eyes on me, and then she waves her hands around. “Yay,” she cries before she spins back around, picks up her makeup brush, and finishes whatever the fuck she’s got going on… a bunch of shit she doesn’t even need.
Half an hour later, we’re out of the room, and then we’re down at the breakfast place we’ve been eating at every day. We both order what has become our usual and eat it. When we’re finished, it’s time to feed Thea again. When she’s done, we get settled in Keely’s car. I drive because I’ve got a dick, and that’s what men do. We head straight for our house.
Our home.
I can’t fucking wait.
CHAPTER
FIFTY-SEVEN
KEELY
Cars are lining the street, and motorcycles are sandwiched in between when we pull up to the house. Turning my head, I look over to Brock, who is driving, his focus straight ahead as he pulls into the driveway.
“Brock,” I call out softly.
He doesn’t look, doesn’t flinch as he shifts the car into Park. Then he turns his head, his eyes finding mine and his lips curving up into a grin. “Looks like the family has arrived to greet us.”
I open my mouth to ask him if he’s serious, if all these cars and bikes are from the clubhouse, but he doesn’t give me the chance to. I don’t know if he’s just that excited, but the car door flies open, and he unfolds faster than I think I’ve ever seen him move. Then he’s reaching into the back seat and unclipping Thea’s car seat before I’ve even opened my door.
Gathering myself, my composure, and my small bag that was resting at my feet, I throw my legs over the side and stand from the car. Brock is already halfway to the front door before I round the front of the car. He stops, looks back at me, and smiles.
It’s a mischievous smile, which means he knows something that I don’t. My feet hurriedly carry me toward him, closing the distance between me and him and Thea. Reaching out, I slip my hand in his. He laces his fingers with my own, and my heart begins to race.
I don’t know why, but his holding my hand like this feels almost as exciting as sex… not quite, but almost. A close second. Together, we make our way toward the front door, stopping before Brock reaches for the knob.
He turns to me, his eyes finding mine before his lips curve up into a grin, and I open my mouth to ask him what is going on, but he doesn’t give me the chance—again. Instead, he pushes the door open, and I hear voices.
Lots and lots of voices.
Then, before I realize what’s happening, they simultaneously yell out… “Surprise!”
My breath hitches, my body stills. I am frozen on the front porch, my heart slamming against my rib cage as I stare at everything in front of me. I can’t believe that this is real.
Brock steps inside, then steps to the side to allow me entrance into the house. I don’t move immediately, but when he flexes his fingers around mine and gently tugs me forward, I don’t have a choice but to become unstuck from the floor and make my way into the space.
There, in the small living room, are about thirty people. Elodie, Juliette, Chassis, and Alex stand in front of the crowd of men, smiling huge, but then my eyes scan the rest of the men in the background, and they’re smiling, too.
It’s a party. There are streamers and balloons. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s very much a party, and as my eyes scan the rest of the room, I realize it’s not just an empty room where people are standing.
There’s furniture.
And a television.
