She shakes her head sharply.
I peel her lip from the teeth with my thumb and ask her to look at me again. “What is it?”
Her face contorts before she takes a deep breath and collides those ocean eyes with mine. “I should’ve believed you.”
My eyebrow lowers. “I didn’t show you any proof—”
“You didn’t need to.” Her eyes line with silver as her throat works with a swallow. “I should’ve known you wouldn’t do that. I was so blinded by my own rage that I didn’t see what was happening in front of me,” she finishes on a whisper, a tear slipping down her cheek. “Have I completely lost you?” She refuses to meet my gaze now, instead focusing on the trees behind me.
I grab her neck with a gentle command to focus on me and she does. “Are you crazy? I told you you’re mine. You would never lose me. Not in this lifetime, and not in the next. I would’ve let you hate me forever just to be near you.”
All tension vanishes from my shoulders as she gazes at me with love in her eyes, and my limbs shake as I bring my face closer, lips hovering over hers. “I love you,” I whisper before pacing a kiss to her lips—metal and the saltiness of her tears mix on my lips. Her tongue swipes along my lower lip and I welcome her careful movements with mine. I hold a firmer grip on her neck, pulling her closer, and deepening our kiss.
The tulle of her dress hisses as she climbs over me, seating herself on my already erect dick. She lets out a light moan as our tongues tangle together for a few seconds before I suck on her bottom lip and her frantic hands work to undo my shirt buttons.
I kiss my way down to her collarbone and she fists her hand into my hair, gently pulling which makes my cock grow harder.
She needs this. I need this. It seems to be the only thing that grounds us amongst all this fucking chaos.
“Hurt me, Jordie,” I all but moan, craving her dangerous touch.
“No,” she whispers over my lips. “Never again.”
I tuck her hair behind her ear, smiling gently with a small huff. “How does it feel?”
She smiles back, closing her eyes in relief before letting out a satisfying sigh that says it all.
Two of our abusers are gone, killed by their victims hands.
Tiny ball string lights decorate around the arched ceiling and wooden beams, lighting up the converted warehouse with a warm glow. A stocked bar sits at the far end of the warm interior below the platform. There’s a brick feature wall at the other end of the house with tall, compact bar tables and stools dotted around the outside. It’s really an amazing space—Asher and Blake have really created something amazing. It feels like a safe place.
“Welcome to the Blackcastle Sinner’s Den.” Asher extends his arms out and spins in a circle, admiring his own work.
“Is that really what we’re calling it?” I laugh. This conversation feels too casual for what just happened, but I’d expect nothing less from Asher.
“Do you have a better name for it?”
“Not that I can think of.”
He throws his arms up in a ‘there-you-go’ gesture. Blake’s mouth twitches as he watches him. Probably the first ever smile I’ve seen from him in years—if you could even call it that.
“Wow, it’s beautiful,” Jordie marvels, taking a look around.
When Asher notices the blood she’s covered in, he winces. “I’m sorry, little Jordie. I haven’t managed to get the plumbing working yet. I’m not qualified enough for that I’ll be honest.”
Blake snorts lightly from his perch at one of the tables.
Jordie gives herself a onceover and sighs.
“Kain failed to mention you were going on a murder spree…” Asher gives me a pointed look. “But we did bring sleeping bags and spare clothes. There’s bottles of water in the bar if you want to use those.”
“Are we safe here?” Jordan blurts out.
“We’re in the middle of nowhere. No one as far as we’re aware knows this place exists,” Blake chimes in. “We just have to get through the night, and we’ll be gone before sunrise.”
Cassie emerges from a side room, fear marring her face. That light, happy aura no longer present.
“Cassie!” Jordie gasps, releases my hand, then rushes over to her. “What are you doing here?”
