“That explains the rose petals.” I feel the bed dip as he climbs in behind me, pulling me back to him.

“Yeah.” The laugh dies on my lips when I feel his mouth on my neck.

“Are you nervous?” he asks.

“I’ve never done this—I mean, I’ve done this. I’ve had sex,” I mumble and cover my hands over my face. Even though he can’t see it, I’m mortified.

“You’ve never hooked up with a stranger?” His voice is suddenly soft and serious as he pulls my hands down and turns me toward him in his arms.

“No,” I answer honestly because what’s the point in lying? I’m never going to see him again.

“Have you?” I add before I think better of it.

He coughs, and it’s his turn to look away. “Well—”

“Never mind, please don’t answer that.”

“Hungry?” he asks, changing the subject.

“And if I said not for food?” I blurt before I can stop myself.

“I would say you’re much better at this than you think.” His mouth closes over mine in a kiss that says we’re nowhere near finished.

After I’m thoroughly spent from my wild night, I’m drifting off to sleep in his arms. I can’t help but think Mr. Penthouse may be a stranger, but my body responds to his touch like it knows him. Who would have thought on one of the worst days of my life he could make me feel more in a few hours than my former fiancé did in a few years?

For once, I’m not anxious for the sunrise and ready to face a bright new day… because I never want this night to end.

Chapter 5

Beau

Fuck this hotel.

Fuck this trip.

And fuck Sunny for playing me with her innocent little doe-eyed, never-done-this-before act.

The worst part? I can’t get her out of my head.

If seeing her in the hotel bar, sipping her fruity little drink with hungry eyes, wasn’t a clue enough, her finding me by the pool should have been.

And those rose petals—red flag.

It’s clear she was planning a romantic night. Honeymoon suite mix-up, my ass.

I never should have gone up to that terrace last night. And I sure as hell never should have walked her back to her room.

She played me like a fiddle. Charlie Daniels would be proud.

The only thing I am… pissed. I tried my best to avoid her.

When she all but fell at my feet in the lobby, I felt it then. The spark, instant attraction.

It usually takes more than a beautiful blonde with legs for days to get under my skin.

I came to Savannah to do a job, but she made it damn near impossible.
