“Next time, try settling your family disagreements without dropping the gloves.”
I laugh. “Yes, sir.”
He shakes his head and walks away.
I watch him go. Still part of the family—still Coach's boy.
Even after everything.
A few minutes later, Declan disappears toward the visitors' exit.
Mom hugs Delaney goodbye.
Coach reminds her to drive carefully, even though she's not the one driving tonight. Then they leave.
Avery says she's meeting Mercer later and gives Delaney a hug before heading toward the parking garage. And finally, it's just us.
Delaney turns toward me. “Well.”
I smile. “Well.”
“That was quite a game.”
“Had its moments.”
“You got into a fight with my brother.”
“Technically, he started it.”
She raises an eyebrow. “Bishop.”
“Okay. We both participated.”
She laughs.
I reach for her hand. “Ready to go home?”
Her expression softens. “Yeah.”
We start toward the garage. She's wearing my jersey. Her hand fits in mine. And I can't stop looking at her.
After a minute, she glances up. “What?”
“Nothing.”
“You're staring.”
“Can you blame me?”
She smiles. “You've seen me in your jersey before.”
“Yeah.”
I pull her a little closer. “But tonight everybody else did too.”
She stops walking.
I turn toward her. “What?”
