“Should've thought about that before you attacked me.”
I laugh so hard I can barely breathe. “Let me go!”
“Nope.”
“Hayes!”
He kisses my cheek. Then the corner of my mouth. Then, just beneath my ear.
My laughter fades.
His lips brush the side of my neck, warm against my damp skin. “You know,” he murmurs, “I almost booked us a room tonight.”
I tilt my head. “Oh?”
“Thought about taking you back to the Congress Plaza Hotel.”
I go still. Then turn just enough to look at him. “The Congress Plaza?”
He smiles. “Figured we could revisit some history.”
I stare at him. “You did not.”
“Almost.”
“You're unbelievable.”
“Hey, I decided against it.”
“Very generous of you.”
“Thought I'd save the money and put it toward pizza.”
I scoop up a handful of water and splash him.
He laughs.
“You're lucky I love you.”
“Trust me, Becks. I know.” He pulls me closer again, and I settle against his chest. His mouth finds the curve of my shoulder.
A slow kiss.
Then another.
I close my eyes.
There's something about being held like this that makes the rest of the world feel impossibly far away.
No cameras.
No reporters.
No teammates knocking on the door.
No worrying about whether my brother is going to walk around the corner. Just us.
And the soft sound of water moving around us.
