Half the time, she’d shown up dressed pretty much the way she was right then.
“Speaking of heels, you look crazy hot,” she said.
I looked down at my sexy black dress and the strappy heels she’d helped me pick out.
“You think?”
“Um, you look exactly like what Trevan wants to be sipping.” She murmured that scandalous tidbit in my ear.
Surprise blew my eyes wide, then she pulled back like she hadn’t said it, taking me by both hands and changing topics. “Are you okay? I can’t believe they still haven’t gotten this asshole.”
“I’m fine.”
I couldn’t help myself. I stole a glance behind me, even though I’d been giving it my all to ignore the intensity that radiated back.
Impossible.
Not when I could feel Trevan right there.
A looming presence that only multiplied the thrill I felt inside.
Those espresso eyes were hot. Black, molten lava.
I jerked my attention away and pinned it back on Brinley.
Only her mouth unhinged.
“Holy shit,” she rasped on a muted gasp, and she yanked me closer, dropping her voice even lower. “Did you two get naked?”
Redness streaked. So fast and hot I didn’t know how I wasn’t a puddle on the floor. Those freaking blushes always dished all my secrets.
Not that I wanted to keep any from her.
But this was obviously not the time since Silas emerged from the backseat of the car with Kai in his arms, a scowly frown on his face.
Luckily, Meems was slipping out the other side. Her warmth skated the air. An embrace before she even got to me.
“Now don’t go hogging our superstar, Brins,” she called in her weathered voice.
Brinley tossed her a grin as she fully curled her arms around me again, hugging me from the side. “She’s mine, Meems.”
“No way! My Wena!” Kai smacked his little hand against his chest, his beaming smile plastered on his face as he grinned, then pointed at me.
Love flooded.
A torrent.
“No way, my Lena,” Silas said, pride in his gaze.
Bewilderment choked out of me.
“No, mine, Daddy!” He giggled and patted Silas’s cheek.
God, I loved them all so much.
“And my Kai. My meems. And my Silas and Brinley.” I tried to shout it playfully, but it got clogged in the thickness in my throat.
“That’s because we all belong to each other,” Meems proclaimed as she slowly ambled toward the steps.
