A mountain of protection.

“Stick close to me.” Those words wound through me. A bond that shivered.

Warmth saturated me through, and I leaned into his hold and let him guide me down the steps and to his bike.

Even though there were a ton of other Crows around, Trevan watched the area the whole time, ready to throw himself on top of me in a second’s notice.

He swung his leg over his bike, then stared at me.

Face so brutally beautiful that it punched through me like a raze of bullets.

Tattooed hands fisted on the handlebars, the flash of that crow on full display.

Love to Death written beneath it.

I did.

I’d love him to the end.

Espresso eyes boiled with severity. With that potency that curdled the air in his viciousness.

This man who I knew would take down a city for me.

My belly somersaulted.

So did my heart.

Putting his weight on one leg, he hooked the other boot onto the starter and kicked it over.

The engine roared then gurgled.

A discordance of bikes revving to life filled the air as the rest of the Crows climbed onto their motorcycles.

My pulse stampeded as I swung on behind him, and I curled my arms around his waist.

Even through his thick leather cut, I felt his insides tremble.

He handed me the helmet he always insisted I wear, and I was quick to put it on. Then the roar of his motorcycle filled our ears as he took to the street.

The mess of other Crows gathered around us.

Five in front.

One on each side.

The rest at the back.

An army standing guard.

It was both terrifying and exhilarating.

The threat lurking in the distance but getting to have Trevan this way. The wind on my face and his warmth all around. This was when I didn’t have to hide what I felt for him.

When I could cling to him right out in the open and no one would question it.

My legs tucked around his outer thighs and his heat blistering into my body.

The small town of Crimson Creek blurred by as the late afternoon descended, Trevan winding through town until we approached the Crimson Crows’ compound gate.
