Not a lot of them. I got a sense when I pulled into the lot that someone had been around. Found the box at the door. No note. No indication of where it came from. But the message seemed clear enough.

Phoenix

It’s a warning.

Phoenix didn’t need to say a whole lot to express what he was thinking. His mind had instantly flipped to the same page as mine.

Me

Silas

Silas was right there with us.

Me

I think that should be our focus, but like Elena said, it could be nothing.

Brody

Is that what you really think?

A puff of worry slipped from my nose.

Me

No.

Silas

We knew there was going to be a counterstrike from this bastard.

Agitation slicked my skin.

Me

Nothing but a dark shadow in a coat with the hood up. Sent it to Cash to see if he could get anything out of it.

Phoenix

So if this bastard is already in town?

Brody

Silas
