“Lena.”

“I don’t want you to be alone, either. We all need someone, Trevan.”

My mind spiraled to that house that I’d sat in front of only a few hours ago. To what I’d lost. And I looked at what I’d chosen, searching for restraint. For the walls I needed to keep fifteen miles high.

And what the fuck did I do?

I crawled in beside her.

No way to resist.

Drawn to her warmth. To that bit of light that flickered through my insides whenever I got close to her.

Laid down and tucked her to my chest like a selfish prick.

“I’m here, too,” she murmured, her essence flittering out across my bare flesh.

Bliss teased and played at the fringes of my consciousness as I drifted somewhere far away.

Somewhere beyond reality. In that fuzzy space between sleeping and awake.

A buzz skimmed over my needy body.

The vacancy, the hole, the desperation that I forever lived with throbbed and ached, though somehow, I felt as if I might be close to filling it.

At the precipice of something beautiful.

Trevan’s face danced through my mind.

Ferocious and intimidating, but he wore that gentle smile that was reserved for me.

My hands were frantic as I clung to his big, masculine frame.

A fortress of heat and fire.

A sanctuary. My refuge.

The only place I wanted to run to.

“Trevan.”

I rocked and whimpered as flickers of that bliss sparked and danced, my breaths shallow, his face distorted as I rushed to meet him.

He brushed his big fingers through my hair, tucked it behind my ear.

Rolled over the top of me. Pressed himself between my thighs.
