Nearly every day, there seemed to be something new.
Last week, he’d caught Zander making up the most disgusting concoction for Keira of vanilla ice cream, pickles, and peanut butter cups.
If Ammo ever had a woman, which he wouldn’t because women just got in the way, he wouldn’t be running around like a crazy person making her disgusting concoctions.
He’d put his foot down and tell her to eat her normal food.
“You should let her walk, man,” Ammo told him.
Zander glared over at him.
“Pregnancy is natural, right?” Although as Ammo studied her, he wasn’t sure that was entirely true. It didn’t look that natural. Or comfortable. “I don’t think other pregnant women are carried around by their men.”
“I don’t care what those other idiot men are doing,” Zander said. “This is what I’m doing.”
“Actually, it’s probably not healthy for Keira to be carried everywhere,” Miles said as he studied something on his tablet. “Pregnant women should get light exercise, unless they’ve been told that they need to remain on bed rest.”
“Is that true?” Zander asked sharply.
Miles nodded and turned around his tablet. “I’ve been researching pregnancy. It’s written right here.”
Zander took the tablet from Miles and started reading it, while Keira mouthed a thank you at the younger man, who blushed.
Ammo grabbed himself some breakfast and sat at the table. Pulling out his own phone, he scrolled through his emails. Something caught his eye and made him sit up straight.
He glanced over at Zander, who seemed to sense his gaze on him and tore himself away from the tablet.
“What?” Zander asked. “If you’re going to tell me that I should let Keira take hot baths, I’m not doing it. And this research proves that I’m right.”
Why the hell would Ammo care about whether Zander let Keira have a hot bath? He just shook his head.
“Charlie died.”
Zander frowned. “Charlie Miles?”
Ammo shook his head.
“Charlie Jones?”
“No, why would I care if that old bastard died?” Ammo grumbled.
“Charlie Charleston?” Zander guessed.
“That’s the one.”
“You guys know a lot of Charlies,” Webb commented.
“Charlie Charleston?” Keira asked. “That’s a cool name.”
Everyone shot her a look.
“You like the name Charlie Charleston?” Miles asked, looking confused.
She shrugged. “It’s a name you’d remember, right? What could we put with Winters? Will Winters. Wendy Winters. Wanda Winters.”
“Those are all shit names,” Honey told her bluntly.
“I agree with Honey,” Zander told her. “Those are terrible names.”
