She wasn’t quite sure what was happening, but there was something about Dr. Melton that was making her feel more at ease. And a bit sassy.
“But there is the fact that I do like to help people,” he told her.
“I think there are probably other jobs where you can help people that don’t involve poking and prodding them.”
“Hmm, you’re probably right. But since this is my job right now, how about you sit down, and I’ll do a little bit of poking and prodding? I promise to warm up my hands first.”
Suddenly Ammo moved between them. “No touching her!”

Yes, Ammo was aware that he was acting like a crazy person as he stood between Dr. Melton and Aimee.
No, he wasn’t backing off.
Okay, the guy was a doctor. He technically had to touch her in order to check her over, but for some reason, Ammo suddenly didn’t like it. And yes, he had been the one to insist that she come to the doctor, even though she had told him she didn’t want to.
So he’d brought this on himself.
But it didn’t mean that Dr. Melton got to flirt with her. That’s what was happening, right?
Although he wasn’t quite sure that was right either. So what was he getting jealous over? They weren’t looking at each other like they were attracted to one another.
Maybe he was feeling protective because her Little side seemed to be poking out.
Or he thought it was.
He kept seeing more and more hints that she was a Little.
So perhaps it was just his protective instincts riding him hard right now, and he wasn’t actually feeling jealous and possessive.
Sure, you tell yourself that.
“Ammo, what are you doing?” Aimee asked. “We’re at the doctors. Of course he’s going to have to touch me.”
Doctor Melton was eyeing him with interest, and he wondered what the other man was thinking.
Aimee pushed at his back, which had about as much impact as a butterfly trying to prod him along. He might need to talk to her about building up some upper body strength if that was all she had.
“Ammo, why are you acting like a crazy person?” she whispered. “You’re the one that insisted I come here. You even made me the appointment, and now that we’re here, you’re blocking me off like you think he’s going to hurt me. You’re not going to hurt me, right, Dr. Melton?”
There was a slightly shaky tone to her voice, as though she was actually concerned about that, and it roused his protective instincts even more.
Fuck, what was he doing?
She was right, he was the one that had insisted she come here, and now he was acting like he had to protect her from being examined.
He was making everything worse when his job was to make things better.
Well, maybe not his job. But it was what he wanted to do.
“I try very hard not to,” Dr. Melton said. “It tends to affect my return rates if I go around hurting people. However, I may need to take some blood, and sometimes that can hurt a little bit. But I do have lollipops for afterward.”
“Do you have red ones?” she asked suspiciously.
“I certainly do. Are those your favorite?” the doctor asked her.
“No, I hate them. I like the green ones,” Aimee told him.
