He shakes his head. “No, I don’t. I just don’t think he should be judged. You literally drink coffee then take a sip of a mimosa immediately after. Is that not weird?”
Valerie and I answer at the same time. “No.” I like her. A woman with some class.
Aiden looks at Gabriel and sighs. “I’m sorry, man. I tried to help. You’ll never hear the end of this.” Gabriel just sadly nods, accepting his fate. He’s very understanding for a sinner.
I clasp my hands as I glance at all the reapers. “Alright y’all. Let’s show the Reaper’s Court that everyone deserves justice.”

I am printing the complaint that I drafted to turn into the Reaper’s Court. I am requesting a hearing as soon as possible, or a delay in sending the glitch reapers—that’s what I’m calling them—to Hell while I prepare our case.
Grabbing the stack of papers, I slide them in a yellow envelope, then walk to Aiden’s desk where he is updating forms on his computer. I come up behind him and lay my chin on his shoulder, watching as he clicks away at the screen. He uses a hand to gently pat my head, the other still on the mouse.
“You good?” He asks, not pausing from his work.
I lift the envelope to show him. “Yes. I am leaving to turn in these documents to court. I’ll be back shortly.”
“If you wait two minutes, I’ll come with you if you want.”
I nod my head excitedly against his shoulder. “Yes, I would like for you to come.”
He gestures to the right side of his desk. “Sit right here and I’ll be done soon.”
I pout. “But I like where I am.” He smells delicious. I bury my nose into his neck.
He leans back and looks at me, causing my head to lose contact with him. “You’re too close to me and it’s causing reactions that aren’t appropriate at work.”
I look at his lap, then back at him. I smirk and whisper, “We can do some more things.” I lean into his ear and place my hand on his thigh. “Things that aren’t work appropriate.”
His eyes darken. He licks his lips, causing a tingling sensation between my legs. He wraps a hand around my nape and pulls me down to him. Just as our lips brush against each other, the door to the office opens. Aiden abruptly stands causing me to fall backwards. He doesn’t even try to catch me as I land on my ass. I glare up at him as he glances down at me with wide apologetic eyes.
Director Taevian walks in and we both turn to look at him. He pauses at the sight of us, his eyes squint in suspicion.
He sighs. “Why are you on the floor, Joyce? Are you two fighting again?”
Aiden looks back at me and raises an eyebrow. “Yeah, Joyce. You need to be less clumsy.”
My teeth grind together as I let out an agitated breath. Oh, he is so in the doghouse. I stand and dust myself off.
I bore my gaze into Aiden’s. “Yeah, Director Taevian, I was clumsy.” I raise an eyebrow. “I can promise it won’t happen again.” I place an emphasis to ensure Aiden understands what I mean.
Director Taevian laughs. “You’re adorable, Joyce. I came over to see if you’re free for a chat. We could go to Paris for a cup of coffee? We haven’t had much one-on-one time. I think it’s time, considering I’m like your boss’ boss.”
I pat my chest twice. “You had me at coffee.” I point to the documents on the desk. “I just have to turn in these documents to the court first.” I take a couple of steps to Aiden’s desk and pick up the envelope. I feel him try to grab my thigh and I flick him with my envelope. He looks up at me with puppy dog eyes, but I ignore him. My ass is still aching from the fall.
Director Taevian nods. “Ready to go?”
I walk over to him. “I sure am.”
We head out the door. I peek at Aiden to see him mouthing, ‘I’m sorry’.
I flip him the middle finger as we walk out. Taevian and I turn down a hallway and almost run right into Director Young, who’s wearing her signature white suit. She loses her balance, but Taevian places his hands on her shoulders to balance her.
She laughs. “Oh dear! That was a close one.”
Taevian smiles and says, “That was. How are you, Director Young?”
She smiles shyly at him. “I’m doing alright. How about you?” I look down at my shoes, feeling as though I am intruding on something. Today’s heels are my favorite—light pink, pointed toe and sky-high stilettos. I tend to wear more pink now since that time at the bar with Aiden.
