“What?” Dez asked.
“Nothing.” I cleared my throat and stood. “Lightheaded.”
“You need water.” He went to the mini fridge and handed me a bottle of water. I took a long sip and watched him go to his closet for a fresh pair of pants. His back was to me, and I could see the scratches I’d left across his shoulders.
“Damn, I fucked you up.”
He glanced back at me. “I’ll wear this shit like a badge of honor.”
I rolled my eyes and started getting dressed. He watched me put my bra back on instead of buttoning his shirt.
“Can you focus, please?”
“I am focused.”
“On getting dressed, Dez. Not my titties.”
“I’m multitasking.” He kept his eyes on me as he buttoned his shirt. “Yo, did your boobs get bigger?”
I looked down at my chest and turned around suddenly self-conscious. “Stop being weird.”
“I’m serious. They look—”
I mugged him and he held his hands up.
We finished getting ourselves together and my stomach growled. “I’m starving.”
“You want me to cook or grab something on the way home?”
“I don’t care,” I said, slipping my shoes back on. “I want something fried though.”
“Bet.”
Lorelei sat at the empty desk outside of Dez’s office. I’d never wanted the floor to open and swallow me up more than I did right now.
She looked up and smiled, like she hadn’t heard Cardez knocking the Sonic rings out of me for the past thirty minutes.
“Hey, boss.” She nodded at Dez. “Belle, I sent you an email about scheduling alterations for your dress.”
I nodded as heat flushed my face. “Great.”
Dez took my hand and I sucked in another breath as we passed Angie.
“Have a good evening, Mr. Montague,” she said without looking up, but I caught the tiniest smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth.
“You too, Ang.”
“Those women think I’m a whore,” I said once we were in the elevator.
“You’re my whore though,” he said, pulling me against him.
I elbowed him. “Dez, I’m serious.”
“Who cares?” He laughed. “You’re my fiancée, and I’m the boss. If I wanna fuck you in the middle of the day, I’ma do that.”
I side-eyed him. “You’ve had sex in your office before, haven’t you?”
“I don’t kiss and tell, Princess.” He winked.
