Move.
"I . . ." My voice comes out so rough I barely recognize it. "Sibley."
She isn’t beside me as she should be.
We’d fallen asleep together.
I remember wrapping my arms around her before drifting off. She’d been tucked against my chest, snuggling into me.
Now, the spot beside me is empty.
Cold.
My pulse instantly doubles.
My mate isn’t here. She’s gone.
"Sibley," I shout, the word coming out broken as my lungs refuse to cooperate.
Nothing.
Not even the sound of movement outside my room.
"Sibley!"
Still nothing.
Fear, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, rips through me. My lion erupts inside me with such force that it nearly steals my breath.
“Shift.” The command echoes through every cell of my body. I need to shift.
Without further thought, I let him take over.
Pain rips through every muscle I have. Normally, shifting is as natural as breathing, but this time it’s as if every bone in my body shatters before being forced back together. I roar through the agony until my beast finally takes over.
Even then, I don’t feel free.
My lion staggers the second his paws touch the floor.
The gas is still affecting me, though not nearly as badly as it did in human form. My instincts sharpened enough to cut through some of the haze. The scent coating the room becomes impossible to ignore.
Find her.
I lurch forward only to crash shoulder-first into the bedside table. Wood explodes beneath my weight, splintering across the floor. The dresser isn’t much luckier. I slam into it to steady myself, and the mirror shatters into hundreds of glittering pieces.
I can’t think. Can’t focus. The only thing my lion cares about is finding Sibley.
One unsteady step after another carries me toward the bedroom door. I hit it with everything I have, ripping it off its hinges before stumbling into the hallway.
The air out here is even worse. The drug saturates the entire clubhouse.
Every one of my brothers is still breathing this shit in.
Corbin.
He’s the closest.
I force my legs to move, bouncing off the walls hard enough to crack the drywall as I fight to stay upright. By the time I reach Corbin’s room, my lungs are burning.
