It’s all on my bingo card for tonight. We’ll see if I score the winning combo.
“My Uber’s here,” I say, rather than saying any of that to her. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
“Set your alarm!” she says.
I huff as I set it with that obnoxious sound that my iPhone simply classifies as “alarm” under “classic” sounds. I play it for her, and she purses her lips before I spin to walk out of the room.
“Be careful!” she calls after me, and yes, being careful is my top priority. Or near the top, I guess. You know, carefully looking for Cash. Carefully finding him and ending up in his bed. Carefully making sure he has a condom.
Oh, I’ll be careful, all right.
CHAPTER 10: Ivy Bradley
Are They Hockey Players?
A half hour later, just before ten o’clock, our designated meeting time, Ashley and I are getting out of the Uber in front of the hotel housing the nightclub. We make our way in, and there’s a line to get into the club.
“Have you been here before?” I ask as we get in at the back of the line. More people get in behind us. This place is hot and happening, apparently.
She shakes her head. “I’ve gone to Zouk a few times and a couple other places, but the clubs here are so expensive, and they’re always full of a million tourists looking to hook up with local sports stars.” She rolls her eyes.
“Isn’t that what you’re looking to do?” I point out.
She laughs. “Yeah. Get the tourists out of my way so a local can have a chance!”
I giggle, though I temper that giggle a bit when the girl in front of us turns around and glares.
“Ivy!” a male voice yells from up ahead.
I glance up, and I see Cash. He’s waving me over, and he says something to the bouncer, who looks around the long line to the back and spots me. He nods and waves me up, and I link arms with Ashley as we make our way to the front of the line.
Ashley’s squealing, and we both hear both the cheers and jeers as we walk by.
“Oh my God, is that Cash Maddox?”
“Where the fuck do they think they’re going?”
“He’s even hotter in person.”
“Who are these two bitches?”
“Holy shit!”
“Uh, hello! There’s a line!”
I ignore them all as I beeline for Cash, and he escorts us into the club. We don’t even have to talk to the bouncer. We don’t have to pay the fee. We don’t have to flash identification proving we’re old enough to be here.
Simply because Cash Maddox waved us in…we’re in.
We follow him toward an elevator, and an attendant there presses a button. His eyes slide to Ashley.
“Hi, I’m Cash,” he says.
She giggles. She can’t even form words. Her brain is short-circuiting.
I know the feeling around this man. She was probably not the right person to bring with me.
“This is Ashley,” I say. “She works at Ever-Brand, too.”
