I cup her cheek. “Why not?”
“Because normal people don’t just sleep with people they’ve known for two minutes and are not likely to see ever again.”
I rub my thumb over her lips. “I heard a word salad there. But you said you wanted to know what it felt like to not hold on so tight. And for the record, people sleep with people they don’t know all the time. Every Friday night in clubs up and down the States. And it’s not like you haven’t already seen my dick.”
Her jaw drops, and then she bats my hand away. “Accidentally walking in on your naked yoga session and voluntarily approaching your—” she gestures to the zipper of my jeans “—with a view to…”
I take my chances and tug her close to brush a kiss on her cheek. “With a view to what? I’m desperate to hear what you’d do with it, Della.”
She tries to step back. I follow her, pressing her back to the bar. “Stop teasing me, Sunny. It’s not funny.”
“A grown-up one-night stand that we both walk into knowing the score can be as funny or serious as we want to make it. Now tell me what you’d do with me if you got your hands on me.”
“You’re still teasing me.”
“I’m gonna kiss you, in a second, to persuade you I’m not teasing, but you strike me as a woman who, beyond the heat-of-the-moment kiss earlier, might want a little more say in whether I do. Consent and all that. So, yes or no? Can I get a little bit closer to persuade you?”
“Any closer and they’d struggle to get a credit card between us,” Della says.
“Yes or no, Indy? Because you, more than most, understand what a binary question is.”
“I do. It’s…”
My cock is hardening in my jeans, because I’m liking the back-and-forth with her. Not sure I could even explain what it is I find attractive about her. I mean, I think she’s pretty, love her rack, like the way she says things. But more than that, there’s just…there’s a pull. A thread that needs tugging.
I put my lips real close to her ear. “Yes? Or no?”
She shivers. “Yes. But only so we can continue this conversation to prove why it’s a really terrible idea.”
With one hand, I grip her hip, pulling her so close, I feel those tits of hers press up against my chest. And I gently bite her earlobe. “So. Where were we?” I ask as she tilts her head ever so slightly to give me better access.
“Normal people don’t do this,” she says.
“We’ve already established lots of people do this, and I’m not normal. I don’t do a single thing I don’t want to. So, if I’m offering, it’s because I want to. I want to see what it takes to make someone as uptight as you come undone.”
Della opens her mouth, closes it again.
For a woman who always seems to have the answer, she’s suddenly looking at me like I’m an equation she can’t solve. “That,” she says, breathlessly, “is possibly the most irresponsible proposition anyone has ever made to me.”
“Thanks.”
“That wasn’t a compliment.”
I brush my lips over the corner of her mouth, way too brief for it to hit me the way it does. And it’s not just the physical sensation of being up in her space. There’s a connection between us that’s growing every second. “I’m choosing to hear it as one.”
She laughs, and Christ, the sound reverberates somewhere low in my chest. “You’re impossible.”
“I’ve been called worse.”
I don’t know when she stopped looking around the room to look at me, but she’s really looking at me now.
“So, what do you say, Indy? Wanna add just one more night of wild adventure to your resume before you hit the road in the morning?”
Her gaze drops briefly to the floor, then gives an awkward little shrug. “This isn’t my field of expertise.”
I bark out a laugh. “You’re kidding.”
She shakes her head. “I was always too busy for sex to be anything more than infrequent.”
