“Rose didn’t say that you were into torture.”
That makes him pause, and the smile leaves his face.
“The fuck did you just say?”
“She’s told me a lot,” I continue and watch as he blinks in confusion. “About her time with you. She was your favorite.”
His eyes narrow into slits.
“You did not talk to her.”
“All the time. She’s part of my family.” I tilt my head to the side and frown. “You do know that her sister is married to Mateo, right?”
His hands start to shake.
Fascinating.
He drops the hose and pushes his hands through his hair.
“Rosie is alive.”
What?
“Of course she is. Carson and his brothers rescued her.”
He’s shaking his head manically.
“No, she died in the fire.”
“She definitely did not die in the fire. I went shopping with her the other day.”
“YOU’RE A FUCKING LIAR!”
He picks up the hose, presses the nozzle, and cold water slams into me with the force of what feels like a fire hose. He points it at my face, making me have to hold my breath while trying to cough, and then he lowers the stream to my torso and legs, not leaving an inch of me dry.
“Where’s my girl?”
“She’s not your girl, she’s with Diego, and she’s—”
I can’t reply because the water hits my face again as he screams, and this might be how I die.
Drowning.

“He’s got two hundred men surrounding the area,” Rome says, shaking his head. “How did he get this kind of an army in our motherfucking city?”
“Doesn’t matter,” I growl. “They’re all about to die, even if I have to kill every single one of them myself.”
“You don’t get to have all the fun,” Mateo says with a scowl. “We all want this fucker dead.”
“Heat signatures on the property,” Julian murmurs as he stares at his screen. He’s got a drone flying overhead to figure out where the hell Damien and Rina are, given that the house is charred to a crisp. “Not in the house.”
“You’re kidding,” Rome deadpans.
Julian doesn’t respond. He keeps staring intently, and then I know when he sees them.
