“I’m getting lessons,” Charlie calls out, waving at me. “This is Dirk.”
“Ma’am,” Dirk says with a nod.
“Keep your eyes off my wife,” Carson says in his hard, mean voice that always makes my panties wet.
I smirk at him.
“Look what I can do,” Charlie calls out and immediately turns onto his back, floating on the water.
“Good job, buddy.”
Carson stands, every glorious muscle flexing and moving as he pulls himself up, and walks over to me, sits next to me, and kisses the top of my head as he wraps his arms around me. I love that he’s mostly naked and I can finally ogle the ink.
My eyes fall to his hands, and I stop short.
He has a sun on his ring finger, where his wedding band used to be.
How have I missed that before? I really need to up my observation skills.
I can’t fall apart now. I spent all afternoon and evening yesterday wallowing in my feelings. But I’ll ask him about it later.
“It’s not even eight in the morning and you have someone here teaching Charlie to swim?”
“Dirk is an Olympic gold medalist,” Carson says, as if it’s no big deal at all.
“And how did you get him to teach our child to swim?”
He laughs and squeezes me tight. “You’re fucking adorable.”
Suddenly, his phone buzzes, and he pulls away.
“I’ll be back soon,” he says as he nudges my face to his for a kiss, and then he strides inside the house, and I can’t take my eyes off him.
Fuck, my husband is a hottie.
And when I turn my attention back to the pool, I see that Dirk is watching him too.
“Keep your eyes off my husband,” I say, making him blush.
Dirk spends another thirty minutes or so with Charlie and then helps him out of the pool.
“He’s a natural,” Dirks says as Charlie wraps a towel around himself. “I’ll come twice a week for a while to make sure he’s getting all the basics, since it doesn’t seem like he wants to spend much time out of the water.”
“It’s my new favorite thing,” Charlie says. “Now I need a shower.”
He runs inside, and I smile at Dirk, who’s already toweled off and is pulling on his clothes. I’ve noticed several of Carson’s men patrolling around. Probably keeping an eye on Dirk, making sure he isn’t inappropriate with me.
Little do they know that I’m not the one he’s got his eye on.
After Dirk leaves, I follow the others inside and cross to the kitchen to make myself some coffee. I haven’t spent any time in here yet, so I’m not sure where everything is, but I muddle my way through making the cup, adding my favorite creamer from the fridge, and take a sip as I sit at the island.
What the hell am I going to do today?
I should go check on Charlie, but he’s been self-sufficient in the bathroom for about a year now. If he needs me, he’ll call out for me.
I could pull my laptop out and look for a job. I need to put Charlie in school.
What are the best schools in Vegas?
