I’m terrified.
“I know. I promise you. We will find him,” Glenn swears.
Leo’s eyes open wide from the pain, and I lay him down, blood dripping onto the floor again.
“You’re going to need to feed from me, Honeybee. Okay? You have to. It’s the only way.”
“Doesn’t he have your blood in him already?” Soren asks. “He should be fine. He’ll heal.”
“My blood when he crashed was diluted since I was dying, and it left his system soon after.” I hold his head, easing him down on the island.
The same place I nearly died, and I wouldn’t have survived if it weren’t for Leo giving me his blood.
I’m going to return the favor.
I bite into my wrist, pressing it against his mouth. My blood isn’t as dark, and that’s a good thing. It means I’m healing and waiting for the bond to be completed.
While Leo drinks, I hang my head, sweat stinging my eyes from the stress. Water drips from the faucet. A constant aggravation.
Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
Splashing against the sink.
“Fuck! Someone fix the damn sink, please! I can’t focus.” Every drop is a loud echo bouncing off the sides of my skull.
No one moves.
“Fix the fucking sink!” I roar so loud that the window above the sink cracks.
“I got it. I got it.” Glenn passes Soren, his hand lingering on Soren’s arm as he walks by.
Glenn’s clothes are soaked like the rest of us; every step, the water squelches in his boot. He reaches for the knobs, and the left one wasn’t tightened all the way.
Finally.
No water drips.
“I’m sorry. I can’t seem to focus. I can’t lose him, guys. I can’t. He’s changed me.” I hang my head, a sob daring to break me as it hangs in my throat.
I can’t give in. I have to stay as calm as possible.
Leo’s body jerks, and red foam starts spewing from his mouth. I rip my wrist away, holding his head while his eyes roll back in his head.
“What’s happening? What’s going on? Leo! Leo! Honeybee, can you hear me? Look at me. Please.” The sob wins and breaks free; shimmering tears drip down my cheeks.
“Holy shit. He’s rejecting your blood?” Soren whispers in horror.
“What?” I rear my head back to look at him. “No! He hasn’t before. That doesn’t make sense. Lorcan! Lorcan! Where are you? Leo needs help!” I shout into the air.
He fucking appears when he wants. Maybe he can appear when he is called upon.
“Who?” Glenn soaks a towel under cold water and hands it to me.
I press the damp cloth against Leo’s head to help cool him down. He’s burning up.
