“Remi… You haven’t left yet?”
I waited by her side until nightfall, and now, when she finally woke up, I felt like I lost my words. Slowly, I shook my head.
“I stay here tonight. I’m going to stay here every night from now on.”
“Really?” She shifted slightly on the bed, moving closer to the wall. A blush spread across her cheeks. “Then… come here.”
As I sat quietly on the bed, the smile on her face grew. She reached around my neck, gently pulling me to her chest. I wrapped my arms around her waist. And once again, I was on the brink of madness, lying next to her.
“Now we’ll always sleep together?”
“You don’t want to?”
“No way.” At her soft whisper, I slid up slightly to meet her gaze, but Mina softly stroked my right cheek, occasionally peering through her lashes to meet my gaze.
“Sorry, Remi. I’m still sleepy.”
“Then sleep.”
Sleep forever in this dream I’ve created just for you.
“Promise me you’ll sleep too. Don’t get bored without me.”
I nodded, but of course I wasn’t going to sleep. Mina’s scent was everywhere, pressing into my nose, against my skin… Every breath I took was full of her right now. Why would I sleep in this state?
“I’ll watch you instead.” I whispered. “You’re beautiful when you’re asleep.”
It was dark, but I could feel her body temperature rising. Even a warning appeared on the screen my mother had attached to my retina years ago.
You’re the same as me. On the edge of madness.
“You can.” Mina tittered. “But don’t do anything silly, I can’t see you when I’m sleeping… Promise, rookie?”
“Promise, master. I won’t do anything, don’t worry.”
“I told you, Remi! Don’t call me master…” she sulked. “Makes me feel distant.”
“But you are my master, and I am your servant. To me, the only important thing in the world is you.”
Mina blinked in disbelief. “Really?”
“Really.”
“But… No matter what you say, you are only my Remi. If you want to be something, be my knight!”
I didn’t want to argue with her. “I will. Now go to sleep. Goodnight.”
Mina hesitated, but then her eyes fallen shut completely. “Goodnight, Remi.”
In her sleep, I kept watching her. I took a strand of her hair and played with it, reminding myself patience was a great virtue.
After all, I had been born with absolute power. My parents had given me this power so that I could achieve anything I wanted. I knew the moment when I found something I truly craved, the power would come in handy.
I closed my eyes, trying to calm down. But I couldn’t stop being hyper-aware of Mina’s presence, couldn’t stop noticing every tiny twitch of her muscles, every sleepy sign…

“Mine… You’re mine, right?” I inhaled her scent slowly, my nerves trembling with adrenaline, my heart racing so fast I felt worn out, like I’d just come back from a run.
