I bit back a smile.
My omega was in my bed. Dream come true.
Her scent would cling to my sheets. I needed to make sure she slept there regularly; then I would never be without that sweet black tea scent.
Funnily enough, I was already yawning despite how happy I was. Truthfully, I was just as exhausted, and in no time, I began to drift off, the warmth of my omega near me making me feel cozy and at ease.
Summer was falling asleep, too, and as we both semi-consciously got more comfortable, her head dropped to my shoulder as she snuggled into me. I lifted my arm and pulled her close, and just like that, we were both out.
I realized it was morning when the sun hit my face. Blinking slowly, I stretched, my hand tingly as feeling returned. Summer was still asleep on my arm. Not a single part of me was upset about a little numbness in exchange for snuggles.
Turning my head toward her, I happily gazed at Summer as she slept. But the sunlight was creeping in more and more, and eventually, she stirred, stretching against me as she woke up.
“Hi.” Summer smiled into my chest.
“Morning.” As I spoke, I ran a hand through her hair, the purr escaping her chest making me that much more relaxed.
Omega purring.
Possibly one of the best sounds to ever exist. The ultimate relaxant.
“How’d you sleep?”
“Hmm,” she hummed, nuzzling deeper before leaning back. “Good. No tuna and olives. Just musky Marshall metal.”
“Metal?” I cocked a brow, smirking.
“That’s what it’s like. Like your shop but much better.”
I personally thought the shop smelled rather disturbing at times, so I didn’t quite know how to take that. But if my omega liked how I smelled, then I was happy.
“Well, I think it’s about time we got up. I have a feeling it’s pretty late.”
That seemed to set off something inside her. Summer’s eyes fluttered open, and she sat up with a start. “Milo!”
She turned to the monitor, but before she could check, a voice from the doorway disturbed us. “Don’t worry, traitor. He’s with me.”
Emmett stood in the doorway, wearing nothing but his sweatpants, hair mussed, and a baby on his hip. He clearly hadn’t been awake all that long.
Calming down, Summer cocked her head and gave Milo a smile. “How long has he been awake?” she asked. “And wait? Traitor?”
“Long enough. And yes, traitor. We’ve been keeping each other company since his mama decided to abandon me,” he grumbled.
Summer snorted, doing her best not to laugh by rolling her lips between her teeth.
“It’s your fault for eating that monstrosity last night and having fish breath,” I said, shrugging, wrapping an arm around Summer as I sat up.
“You are all Judgy Judys,” Emmett groused, narrowing his eyes playfully. “It’s not that bad, is it, bud?”
He turned to Milo and blew gently over his skin. Milo squawked, flapping his hands as he angled away.
“You were saying?” Summer teased.
“A house full of unrefined palates. The lot of you!”
His tone was grumpy, but there was no actual anger behind it. Plus, he was smiling too big to hide, and even he wound up laughing as Milo reached out for Summer.
She buried her face in my chest and giggled before moving to take Milo, who seemed all too happy to be getting away from the lingering biological warfare.
