Caspian: The Not So Friendly Ghost

When I said Mama knew where almost everything was, that account was the almost. Mama knew I kept private reserves. She did not know I had ninety million dollars sitting in one of them.
Years before I died, I had that money tucked away in a private reserve completely separate from the money tied to the streets, my legitimate businesses, and everything Mama and I managed together. I called it my exit money… the kind of money nobody needed to know existed unless I decided they did. Only me and the accountant who handled that part of my finances knew the full amount.
If I had been alive, moving it would’ve taken me a few minutes, but being dead complicated shit.
Before Lakelyn and Kaidence moved into the mansion, I barely had enough influence on the physical world to do anything useful. Now, with my son living under my roof and Lakelyn close again, manipulating things already connected to my property took a hell of a lot less effort.
Phones.
Tablets.
Computers.
If the device was inside my house and I concentrated hard enough, I could work with it.
Not like I was sitting there typing with actual fingers.
It was closer to pushing my energy through whatever was already there and making the device respond. Took more focus than moving a cup across the counter, but I had gotten pretty damn good at it… which was how I handled the groceries.
Ordering them was easy enough.
No, I couldn’t just snap my fingers and make groceries appear on the doorstep or magically fill the kitchen. That wasn’t how this shit worked… at least not on my end. If I wanted to do something without Miss Veda’s help, I had to do it the closest thing to the regular-ass human way I still had access to. So for that matter, I had to shop online, pay for everything, and have somebody living deliver it to the property like anybody else.
But once something crossed my gates?
Different story.
Inside the boundaries of that property, I had control over damn near anything physical if I had enough energy to manipulate it. I could open and close doors, move furniture, stack dishes, straighten a room, take decorations down, send trash into a bag, put clothes where they belonged, work the electronics, or move food from one side of the house to the other without ever laying a hand on it. The bigger the job, the more energy it took, but the rule stayed the same.
In simpler terms… I couldn’t conjure shit that wasn’t there or snap my fingers and make something sitting at Walmart suddenly appear in my living room. But if anything was delivered onto my property, I could make that mothafucka move.
So when it came to the groceries, I found what the house needed, paid for it, and had everything delivered straight to the mansion.
The driver left the last bags near the kitchen entrance and pulled away.
After that?
My house.
My rules.
I snapped my fingers.
Bags slid across the counters. Cabinet doors opened. Frozen food made its way into the freezer. Drinks lined themselves up in the refrigerator. Cereal, snacks, canned goods, and everything else found a place in the pantry.
That part was easy.
I had stood in the middle of that kitchen feeling more accomplished over stocking juice boxes and sandwich meat than I had after deals worth millions.
Death really had fucked up my definition of success.
Lakelyn had been confused as hell the next morning. Whereas, Willow had accused the house of having a grocery fairy. Kaidence didn’t give a damn where any of it came from as long as somebody had bought the snacks he liked.
Speaking of Kaidence, when it came to his room upgrade, I couldn’t take the credit for all of that.
Ordering everything I wanted for his room would’ve been just as easy as it was shopping for groceries. The problem was, I didn’t want boxes, multiple deliveries, or having to wait three days for some Spider-Man lamp to show up because Walmart shipped it separately. I wanted my son to walk out of a regular-ass bedroom that morning and come back after breakfast to a full Spider-Man setup and lose his little mind… and he did.
Pulling that shit off required something I couldn’t do since the items weren’t brought to the property… which meant I needed Miss Veda… again.
