“What?”
“Annoying me.”
“Maybe a little.”
“A little?”
He gives me a look that makes it clear we both know he’s lying.
I fold my arms. “One day I’m going to throw that amp into the street.”
Zander’s smile barely moves. “You say that, but I think you enjoy listening to me.”
“I absolutely do not.”
“You knew when I switched songs the other night.”
“Because I have ears. That doesn’t mean I enjoyed it.”
His smile grows. “Sure.”
I stare at him. “Fine. I heard it. Congratulations. You’ve successfully invaded my home with sound.”
He laughs, but I’m too irritated to let it go. “And it’s not just the music.”
His expression shifts. “What else am I doing?”
I should stop there, but irritation gets there first. “You have people over constantly.”
His brows lift. “People?”
I already know I’ve taken this in the wrong direction. “Women.”
That slow smile comes back. “Women bother you?”
“Their parking bothers me.”
“Have you been keeping track?”
“No. I’m making a larger point. You’re loud in every possible way.”
He laughs under his breath, which only makes me more annoyed because he’s clearly enjoying the fact that I’ve talked myself into a corner.
“You think this is funny because women let you get away with being charming.”
“Back to the women.”
“I am not jealous.”
His brows lift. “I didn’t say you were.”
“You were thinking it.” I take a step closer before I realize I’m doing it. “Your thoughts aren’t exactly hard to figure out.”
“That’s a dangerous amount of confidence in knowing what I’m thinking.”
His eyes drop briefly to my mouth, and the air changes.
It happens so fast I almost convince myself I imagined it, except when his gaze comes back to mine, the amusement is still there, but something hotter is underneath it.
