“You’re becoming inconvenient.”
“That’s going to get worse.”
“I doubt it.”
Ben rises beside Arthur Bell.
“We found Elliot. We found Peter. Your men are in custody, and the Coast Guard has the boat.”
“You found exactly what I allowed you to find.”
“No. You expected Elliot’s body to disappear into the bay.”
For the first time, Simon’s smile fades.
Ben hit him.
It may be a small wound, but we all see it.
“You lost tonight,” Ben says.
Simon rolls the winding key across his fingers.
“I’m standing beside James Sinclair’s trunk.”
“You still have to open it.”
“I intend to.”
He inserts the dolphin key into the compass rose.
Hazel squeezes my arm.
Simon turns it.
Nothing happens.
He tries again.
The floor of the trunk remains closed.
Confusion flashes across his face.
Thomas stands.
“The song.”
Simon looks toward the camera.
Thomas steps closer to the monitor.
“You destroyed the music box before you learned how the mechanism worked.”
The key doesn’t simply need to turn.
It has to follow the notes of Dad’s song.
Hazel suddenly laughs.
