But even as she went slack, collapsing back against the cupboards, Robb still didn’t stop – he continued to drive into her, extending her pleasure past its height, drawing a second orgasm from her, and then a third.
Tahnee felt wild, as if she might actually pass out from pleasure – she felt utterly spent, limbs slack, her lungs heaving. And finally, she felt Robb shuddering against her, his cock pulsing inside her as his own orgasm hit him, seeming to tear through his body and leaving it twitching and jerking in its wake.
He collapsed against her, his head resting on her chest, his breath drying the sweat that had collected on her skin.
Despite his size, Robb was a comfortable weight against her, warm and sheltering. She didn’t want him to be anywhere other than where he was – leaning against her, his arms wrapped around her back, still resting inside her. Her legs were still clasped around his hips, though in her lassitude she’d slackened her grip a little – but she knew he wouldn’t be going anywhere for a while.
This is… this is…
Bliss.
That was the word she knew she was looking for.
But she also knew she couldn’t stay sitting on the kitchen counter all night, and eventually they’d have to move to the bed.
Though that doesn’t mean we have to sleep…
As if he’d had the same thought, Robb lifted his head, a tiny groan leaving his lips as he did so.
“Tahnee –”
She swallowed.
She didn’t really want to talk right now – it was true she’d waited all her life for this, but talking about it could only complicate things.
And I think we have enough complications in our lives right now.
“Shh,” she said, pressing a finger to his lips. “Come on. If you can move, we should shift this show to the bedroom.”
Tahnee couldn’t stop herself from letting out a tiny groan herself as Robb stepped back, withdrawing from her body and letting her down from the counter, putting her down gently on the linoleum floor. Her thighs ached – in fact, a lot of things ached.
Maybe the bed should be just for sleeping… she thought as she tried to work the kinks out of her neck, and Robb pulled his pants up just enough that he could walk to the bedroom without falling flat on his face.
It was a timely reminder that neither of them were spring chickens anymore – but then, surely they couldn’t be as decrepit as all that?!
But she supposed there was only one way to find out.
“Come on,” she said, taking Robb’s hand and drawing him from the kitchen toward the bedroom. “Let’s get horizontal.”
“Sounds ideal,” Robb said, following her, and the heat in his voice sent a jet of renewed desire straight through her.
Not so decrepit after all!
It was all Tahnee could do to not sigh happily out loud as Robb’s lips met hers again as soon they crossed the threshold into the bedroom.
And okay, there was going to be a cold, hard dose of reality in the morning. They had been on opposite sides of the law for decades. Hargreaves were apparently up to their old shenanigans. And Robb’s goody-two-shoes nature was probably going to get on her nerves at some point.
A small, awful voice somewhere at the back of her mind piped up: Mates or not, you’re two very different people. After all these years, can you really change? Can he?
A trickle of unease marred the perfect contentment Tahnee had been sinking into, but as quickly as she could, she dammed up the leak.
I don’t want to think about that right now.
Just like she didn’t want to think about how they’d just irrevocably sealed their bond with each other.
Of course she’d wanted this. But.
But. It seems so permanent now…
