“Trusted my gut.”

“How so?” I inquired, already feeling her energy. With the subtle things I picked up on when she was here last, I sensed where this was going.

“I broke up with my boyfriend. He’s not my true love.”

“It’s good that you’re being true to yourself but what makes you think he’s not the one?”

She frowned a bit before toying with the corner of her lip. After a few seconds she huffed. “I know who is?”

“Have you told her?” I asked and her eyes went wide. I offered a comforting smile before adding, “I noticed your reaction when I asked if the reading was for the two of you.”

She relaxed some. “Reece is my best friend and she’s not like that.”

“Like what?”

“Me. She likes guys.”

“You’re pretending to like them, what if that’s the same for her?”

She frowned, shaking her head. “It’s not. I told her why I broke up with Micah. Not that I liked her, but that I liked girls, and she didn’t care. She was mad that I hadn’t told her and created a whole movement to help me find my true love. I asked if it would be weird if I thought she was the one and she told me absolutely not. It wasn’t her thing.”

“You believe her?”

“I do.”

“Are you guys okay?” She nodded quickly and her smile brightened. “We are and it’s not awkward or anything. She’s still my best friend.”

“That’s good, right?”

“It is, but I was wondering if you could maybe give me something or do something to make me not like her the way I do?”

Shit, this poor thing.

“First loves are hard. Especially if they don’t feel the same.”

“Very fucking hard,” she said through a laugh.

“It’s never good to manipulate your emotions, but it’s also not a good idea to allow them to consume you. How about this?” I walked around the counter to the shelf that stocked my intention papers. I lifted a few and brought them back with me, placing them in front of Leigh.

“What’s this?”

“Intention papers. We’re going to redirect your focus to something more productive.”

I turned and lifted a pen, a small marble bowl, and matches.

“Here, I want you to write down some things. One on each sheet. The first one, ask the universe to heal your heart. The next I want you to ask for a connection to your one true love, and the last one, whatever you want. Be intentional as you write the words, feel it from your heart, connect to the request, and don’t make it about Reece. If you’re truly sure she doesn’t feel the same, then let’s focus on you, okay?”

“Okay.”

“I’ll give you a minute to write those. When you’re done, fold the paper and let me know you’re ready. I’ll be right back.”

I gave her some space, not wanting to hover and make her anxious. When she called me back, I handed the matches to her. “Light one and you’re going to burn them one by one, saying this, By fire I release, by fire I move forward, by fire I move on.”

She nodded and I offered a smile. “You ready?”

“Let’s burn some shit,” she said amusedly and I chuckled. While she struck the match and lifted the first one, I cast a simple intention spell.
