"I'll add it to my list."

"You have a list?"

"I do now."

Despite everything that's happened, I smile. It's becoming harder not to. He notices but politely pretends he doesn't.

Sayer appears a moment later, rubbing sleep from his eyes.

"I had the dream again."

Rhett turns immediately.

"The fog?"

Sayer nods.

"And the house."

"Anything different?"

"There was another house."

I stop pouring coffee.

"What?"

"The one in the dream disappeared."

His voice is quiet.

"This one stayed."

A knot forms in my stomach.

"Did you recognize the other house?"

"No."

"What about this one?"

He looks around my kitchen.

"I’m not sure how..."

He trails off.

"It just felt like I was finally where I was supposed to be."

No one knows how to respond to that. Instead, I slide a plate of toast toward him.

"Eating first."

He smiles faintly.

"Yes, ma'am."
