“Well, that’s good.” She blinks, and I scowl.

“How do I do it?”

“Son, we’ve gone over the birds and bees a long time ago,” she says dryly.

I roll my eyes. “I don’t need help with that,” I growl, and shove my hands in my pockets. “How do I complete it? My magic is reaching out to her. It’s wanted to be one with her since we met.”

“So let it.” She grabs me as I pass her. “You love her. She loves you.”

“How do you know?” I ask roughly.

“Because a mother knows.”

“Shit,” I breathe.

“You're meant to be together. She wouldn’t have been able to enter your nightmare if it weren’t destined. Your magic is tied with hers; you just have to make it official.” She cups my cheek. “It will be like nothing you have ever felt before. She will be a part of your soul. You will always be her family.”

“Fuck,” I rumble.

“I’ll leave so you can get to it.” She pats my face. “Remember, you promised a meal.”

“I know, I know,” I sigh.

“I'll stay away until you call.” She narrows her eyes. “I don’t interfere as much as Rome claims. I know you need time to bond.”

“I appreciate it, Mom.”

“Oh…” She waves her hand toward her face. “I like the sound of that.” She steps back and blows me a kiss. “Bye, Son.”

She disappears, and it can’t be a coincidence that both my moms gave me their blessing and a kiss.

I grin, grateful she came. It was a conversation that needed to happen. I think Mom would love my found Mom, and I can let go of my guilt. For a long time, it was hard to let myself love Margarete, because I thought it would somehow betray Mom.

I hear a car pull up, and I open the door. Mateo shuts off the engine and gets out. Lace stops at the curb.

“Rome can bring your bike whenever,” he says as he walks toward me.

“I’ll let him know.”

He holds the keys out, and I take them.

“Griffon is contained. Rome is watching him.” He tilts his head. “Is she going to be alright?” he asks softly, looking over my shoulder.

“I’ll make sure she is,” I reply.

“Thank you for being everything she deserves.” He backs away.

He waves, turns, and jogs to Lace’s vehicle.

He’s wrong; Savy is more than I thought I deserved.

But I’ll spend my life proving my devotion.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Savy

Iopen my eyes, and the first thing I see is Archer sitting in a chair beside the bed. His elbows are propped on his knees, his hands clasped hanging between them, and his head bowed. I feel many things as the events of the day come back to me, so I concentrate on Archer. Depending on him and knowing he won’t let me down means a lot.
