Chapter Thirty-Seven

Echoes

Helion

Ihad let them believe I had walked away. I should have, yet here I was, leaning against the wall in the narrow hallway outside his door.

But in my defence, I didn’t trust him.

He had killed her every fucking time she reincarnated, and I had felt the death of every single version of her. Even without the bond accepted, it hurt like a fucking bitch.

The words he had told her when she’d tried to hurt him echoed through my head.

“Would you blame a storm for following the wind?”

She needed that. Pretty words and a soft heart.

She was muting the bond, sure, but I could still feel everything. Like looking through clouded glass.

“Harder.” Lyra’s voice cried through the door, and I clenched my fists. The urge to burn the door down was becoming overwhelming.

Not to pull the Commander off my fucking wife.

No.

I wanted to join them.

To press her between me and the Commander until all she knew was pleasure and love.

I’d long since overcome my jealously.

Jealousy and rage cost you the woman you loved.

Especially the jealousy of a god.

I had turned her seas red, slaughtering her beloved Sirens all because she told some little Mortal that she loved him.

I smirked at the memory of how distraught she had been barging into my throne room with a dagger. She had driven that dagger into my flesh twice for every Siren I had killed.

But I still had the final laugh, watching her despair as I used that same knife to carve into her Mortal’s heart.

How he lived now was beyond me, even for a god. I had thought the witch of a sister had something to do with it, but whatever she did know she claimed time had eroded the memories away.

Even if he half belonged to darkness, live he did. He was so alive that he was drawing moans from my wife’s mouth as he fucked her.

She tried to mute it, but her pleasure still bled through the bond. Enough to make restraint feel like torture and fill my cock with blood until it throbbed painfully.

I pushed off the wall and walked back towards the cabin door. I shouldn’t be lingering outside their door like a puppy waiting to be wanted.

She would admit she wanted me eventually; I was sure of it.

I walked back into the light of the blood moon, closing the door that led below deck behind me to keep my wife’s moans away from those who had no right to hear it, only to be met with the pointy end of a sword.

I adjusted my erection, not something I wanted to have during a fight, though it wouldn’t be the first time.

I cocked an eyebrow, pushing the sword away with the back of my hand.

“I wouldn’t point that thing at me, Mortal boy, or I will show you the many places I can shove it.”
