“I love you. You know that.”
I rolled my eyes.
“Here we fucking go.”
“No. Ain’t no here we go. I’m not about to tell you you’re a horrible person. I’m not about to give you no morality speech. You knew that was your cousin’s husband when you fucked him.”
“Damn.”
“And he knew that was his wife’s cousin.”
“Okay!”
“So I’m not talking about Samantha right now. I’m talking about you.”
I got quiet.
Destiny leaned back against my coffee table.
“You got your own fucking house. Your own money. Your own shit. You got niggas who would probably pay to lick the bottom of your fucking shoe.”
I laughed despite myself.
“That’s nasty.”
“You know what I mean.”
“I do.”
“So why the fuck are you sitting around waiting for a married construction worker to pick you?”
I stopped chewing.
That one hit.
“Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“Make it sound like that.”
“How should I make it sound?”
“He told me he’s leaving her.”
Destiny stared at me.
“He is.”
“When?”
I opened my mouth.
Nothing came out.
Exactly.
“He said after Collin comes, he’s gonna start figuring out how to separate everything.”
