Destiny laughed.

“Avery was watching us.”

Destiny looked up.

“She was watching me and Xay when he came over to congratulate me.”

Destiny shrugged.

“Maybe because y’all looked fucking weird.”

“No.”

I shook my head.

“It was different.”

“How?”

“I don’t know.”

That was the problem.

I couldn’t explain it.

I just knew what I’d seen.

“And then when I asked Xay about her, his whole face changed.”

Destiny stopped digging through the gift bag.

“What you ask him?”

“If he was fucking her.”

Destiny nearly choked.

“Bitch! What he say?”

“He didn’t say no.”

“That’s weird.” She put the little onesie she’d been holding back into the gift bag. “Because if somebody ask me if I’m fucking somebody I’m not fucking, I’m saying no.”

“THANK YOU.”

“But that still don’t mean you know.”

“I know that.”

Destiny gave me a look.

I sucked my teeth.

“I’m not about to go beat Avery’s ass.”

“I didn’t say you were.”
