I rolled my eyes and pulled it toward me.

The second I opened it, I stopped.

A diamond necklace sat inside.

Avery spelled out in diamonds, catching every bit of light over the table.

My eyes went straight back to him.

“Keith.”

He grinned.

“You forgive me yet?”

I stared at the necklace.

“Nigga, you think you can buy me some diamonds and I’ma forgive you?”

“Nah.”

He got out of his chair.

“But I think diamonds a good start.”

I laughed despite myself.

“You’re so fucking stupid.”

I lifted my hair while he stood behind me and fastened the necklace around my neck.
