Then when she got pregnant, the promise got more serious.
I told her I wasn’t leaving Sam while she was pregnant with Serenity because I wasn’t about to stress my wife out while she was carrying my baby. Then Serenity came, Sam was postpartum, and I told Heather to give me until Collin got here.
Well…
Collin was here now.
That was the fucking problem.
Every excuse I’d given Heather had officially run out.
And I still wasn’t leaving Sam.
I loved my wife.
I loved my house.
Loved waking up with my kids under one roof.
Heather was cool. I cared about her. Loved my son already.
But divorcing Samantha?
Breaking up my family?
Moving my shit into Heather’s house and suddenly playing family over there?
Nah.
I wasn’t trying to do none of that shit.
I just hadn’t figured out how the fuck I was supposed to tell Heather.
So instead, I’d been doing what I did best.
Buying myself more time.
I pulled away from the site and headed toward East Orange.
My phone connected to the car automatically.
Three missed calls.
One from Heather.
One from Frozo.
One from some nigga I owed money from a card game two nights ago.
I ignored all three.
My life was getting on my fucking nerves.
Sam had been weird too.
Not angry.
That would’ve been easier.
