“See?”
I sighed.
“This the shit I’m talking about.”
Collin yawned.
I laughed quietly.
“You don’t give a fuck though, huh?”
He closed his eyes.
Of course he didn’t.
He got one job.
Eat, shit, sleep and ruin my fucking life.
And somehow, looking down at his little ass, I couldn’t even be mad about it.
Not at him, anyway.
I sat down on Heather’s couch with him against my chest.
For the first time all day, everything was quiet.
Then my phone buzzed again.
Frozo: Yo you still need that play?
I stared at the message.
That was about money.
It had to be.
And right now?
I needed every fucking play I could get.
Me: Yeah. Call me in 20.
I put my phone facedown.
Twenty minutes.
That was about all I had before I had to leave Heather again and go pick up my other son.
Six fucking kids.
Three different houses.
Two women I had kids with who couldn’t know the full truth.
One wife acting strange.
One brother I owed twenty thousand dollars.
