I looked at him.
“Exactly.”
That shut his ass up for all of two seconds.
Then he started laughing.
I started walking again.
“He’ll understand one day.”
“When?”
“When I’m ready for him to.”
I slipped my phone into my pocket and headed back toward the tables.
I had twenty thousand dollars Xay still owed me.
Seven years he could never give me back.
And a secret that nigga still thought was buried.
Sam?
Sam was just another way to make sure when I finally stepped on Xay’s neck, that nigga felt my foot from every fucking direction.
By the time I left Freckles and made it back to Alpine, it was after eleven.
I pulled into the garage, killed the truck and sat there for a second before grabbing my phone and getting out.
I was tired as fuck.
All I wanted was a shower, something to eat and my bed.
I came through the kitchen entrance and immediately noticed lights on.
I frowned.
Then I heard the TV.
When I walked farther into the kitchen, Henry was sitting at the island in gray sweats and a white T-shirt, drinking juice straight out the fucking bottle with an open pizza box in front of him.
I stopped.
“What you doing here?”
He looked at me.
“Man, I live here.”
I chuckled. “I mean, yeah, but the weekend—”
“Wow.” He slowly put the juice down. “That’s crazy.”
I laughed. “Nigga, shut up. You know what I mean. You usually come on the weekend.”
“And now I can’t come on Wednesday?”
