“Yes, Levin. You know, when you close your eyes for several hours?”

“I know what sleep is, Sam.”

“Then why you asking me like I said he upstairs building a rocket?”

His mouth twitched again.

“He supposed to meet me.”

“Well, apparently he didn’t put that on his calendar.”

Levin looked toward the stairs leading up to the bedrooms.

“What time y’all get in?”

“I don’t know. Late.”

“Y’all had fun?”

“We did, actually.”

I walked past him toward the kitchen.

And that part was true.

We had.

Up until the fucking glow-in-the-dark stars.

Levin followed me.

The second he stepped into the kitchen, Michael came running in.

“UNCLE LEVIN!”

Levin barely had time to turn before Michael slammed into his legs.

“What’s up, man?”

He reached down and scooped him up with one arm.

Michael immediately started touching his beard.

“You got hair.”

“I know.”

“Why?”

Levin looked at me.

I shrugged.

“Answer him. He asked you.”

“Because it grow out my face.”

Michael stared at him like that was the stupidest shit he’d ever heard.
