“You’re very full of yourself.”
“You was fucking my brother for me.”
“I was fucking my husband.”
“With your phone pointed at you for who?”
I opened my mouth.
Nothing came out.
Levin smiled.
Exactly.
I sucked my teeth.
“Move before I stab you with this pen.”
He chuckled and finally stepped back.
I immediately picked my list up like I had something important to fucking read.
Levin glanced at it.
“So Thanksgiving?”
“I said I’ll talk to Xay.”
“You can talk to yourself too.”
“Why are you like this?”
“Like what?”
“Aggravating.”
“You ain’t think I was aggravating when—”
Footsteps hit the stairs.
We separated so fucking naturally it scared me.
By the time Xay walked into the kitchen, Levin was leaning against the opposite counter and I was staring at my Thanksgiving list like macaroni and cheese required my undivided attention.
Xay had a thick envelope in his hand.
He tossed it onto the counter.
“Seventeen.”
Levin looked at it.
“Twenty.”
“I know how much I owe you.”
“Apparently not, because that’s seventeen.”
