I actually liked Keith again.

Not just fucking him.

I liked being around him.

He’d been showing up. Taking care of shit. Helping with Carter without me having to ask. Giving me money. Buying shit. Calling. Checking on me.

Acting like the nigga I needed him to be the first fucking time.

And now here I was pregnant by my sister’s husband.

Again.

Life had jokes.

Keith grabbed my hand.

“Come on.”

We headed downstairs.

The noise hit us before we even made it all the way down. Music, laughing, kids yelling, somebody arguing about football.

Normal Thanksgiving shit.

I was almost at the bottom when I saw Xay.

And stopped.

“What?” Keith asked.

“Nothing.”

Xay was sitting on the floor.

With babies.

Three of them.

Serenity was sitting between his legs. Carter was beside her, and he had Collin propped against one thigh while he shook some little toy in front of them.

My stomach dropped for an entirely different reason.

I slowly started walking again.

Keith looked over.

“Look at Carter.”

Carter was smiling so hard her whole little face disappeared.
