“I provided.”
“So did I!”
“I came home!”
“And acted like that was enough!”
He looked back at me.
“You know how fucking stupid I feel now?”
My voice lowered.
“Knowing all those nights you weren’t here, all those excuses, all those times I thought maybe I was asking too much…”
I shook my head.
“You were with them.”
He didn’t say anything.
“So don’t come in here drunk talking about what I’m doing to you.”
I pointed toward the stairs.
“Get your clothes.”
He stood there for another second before turning.
“Fine.”
He went upstairs.
I exhaled.
My hands were shaking.
I picked up my wine and finished what was left.
A few minutes later, he came back downstairs with a duffel bag.
“Done?”
“For now.”
He headed toward the door.
Then stopped.
Turned.
“You really gonna keep fucking him?”
I laughed in disbelief.
“Goodnight, Xay.”
“I’m asking you.”
