And now he was the father of another little baby who would never meet him.

“You want some extra pictures?”

I looked at the screen again.

“Yeah.”

I smiled through my tears.

“Give me all of them.”

By the time I pulled into the parking lot of my apartment in Union, I had looked at those ultrasound pictures at least ten times.

My new place wasn’t anything crazy.

Two bedrooms.

One bathroom.

Decent-sized living room.

Updated kitchen.

Second-floor unit in a small building on a quiet residential street in Union Township.

But it was bigger than my old apartment.

Carter finally had her own room, even though her little ass still ended up in mine half the time.

And eventually, she’d share that room with her little brother.

Moving here had been necessary.
