Yeah.
Nah.
I wasn’t leaving my wife.
Wasn’t even a question.
Whatever I had going on outside this house was outside this house.
This was home.
Sam stood back up.
“Michael ate already. Zion and Amari can have a snack around four. Serenity should be ready for another bottle soon. There’s milk in the fridge.”
“I got four kids with you. Why you telling me this shit like I’m the babysitter?”
“Because last time I came home, Michael told me dinner was Doritos.”
“He lying.”
Michael looked up from my leg.
“No I’m not.”
I looked down at him.
“Whose side you on?”
“Mommy’s.”
Sam started laughing.
“See?”
“Little snitch.”
Michael smiled.
That word hit my ear for half a second.
Snitch.
Then it was gone.
I reached down and picked him up.
“You lucky you cute.”
Sam grabbed her bag.
I watched her move around the apartment checking shit she’d probably already checked twice.
Frozo didn’t understand.
None of them did.
I wasn’t trying to build some new life with Heather.
