I point at myself. “Me? What about me?”

She waves a hand around the room. “Do you remember when I met you?”

Fuck, how could I forget? My life changed for the better the day I met her. “Very clearly.”

She puts her hand on her hip. “You didn’t even know what kind of Christmas decorations you liked.”

I shrug. “I was inexperienced.”

She laughs harder. “Well, I guess you’re a pro now, huh?”

I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her against me. “I had a good teacher.”

Her smile softens. A year ago, I didn’t understand why people made such a big deal about Christmas, but now I get it.

Joy puts her hands on my chest. The diamond on her wedding ring catches the lights from the tree, and even after six months of marriage, seeing it there does something to me.

I lean down and kiss her.

She kisses me back for about two seconds before pushing against my chest. “We have people coming.”

I blow out a breath. “They’re not here yet.”

She smiles at me as she moves across the room. “They will be.”

I walk toward her. “Then we better hurry.”

She laughs and puts her hand against my chest. “You are impossible.”

I sigh happily. “You married me.”

She leans into me and wraps her arms around my chest. “I did.”

Tonight, we’re having the Winters Construction Christmas party at our house. There’s no way they are all going to fit in here, but Joy said it’s going to work. After the heated tents went up outside and seeing the way she’s set everything up, I’ve figured out that my wife is a miracle worker.

The doorbell rings, and Joy jumps. “They’re early.”

I look at the clock. “Only ten minutes.”

“That’s early.”

I laugh as she hurries toward the front door.

By the time I get there, Rachel and her husband are coming inside carrying presents. Rachel looks around the foyer. “Wow.”

Joy immediately smiles. “Do you like it?”

Rachel nods. “I do. But I have a question.”

“What?”

She points toward me. “How much of this did he do?”

Joy laughs. “More than he’ll admit. Come in and make yourself at home. Nick made Christmas Kisses. Grab a drink.”

Rachel’s eyebrows shoot up. “Christmas Kisses?”

I can feel myself blushing. “It’s a drink. Just fruit punch, sherbet, and lemon-lime soda.”
