Learning that Sonatina might have actually been behind the loss of our child. That feels like something I need to protect her from.

“Ten more days and this leg of the tour is behind us,” Bronx says as he snags a handful of popcorn from the bowl on the coffee table.

“I can’t fucking wait.” Golden rubs his hands together. “I’m going to get me a whole spa day when we reach Kingstown. Mud bath. Seaweed wrap. Massage. Facial. The works. What do you say, Special K? Are you going to join me?”

“I’d love to.” I hand him one of the bottles of water I’m carrying. “A little rest and relaxation would be amazing.”

Although... I have been spoiled lately.

Bronx has collapsed into the spacious armchair close to Kodiak. He catches the bottle I toss to him. “What movie did you pick out, Kells Bells?”

“You’ll have to guess.” I snag the bag of Reese’s Pieces out of Kodiak’s hand and replace it with a water. I put the other two bottles on the buffet behind the couch.

“Hand the Reese’s over.” Riot holds out his hand.

I put the bag in it and flounce down in my spot between him and Kodiak. We’ve been getting along this week, the best we have since Bronx brought me home to them. It feels like we’re friends again since he kicked Sonatina out six days ago.

He pours some into his hand and picks through them. Popping the ones I don’t like on the side table next to him, he takes my hand and puts the rest in my palm.

“Hmm.” Bronx scrubs at his ginger beard. It’s gotten thick these last few days. “Point Break?”

“Does it look like Point Break, bro?” Riot picks up one of the discarded Reese’s and tosses it at him.

Bronx opens his mouth and catches the crunchy candy. Grins. “Nope.”

I laugh. Bronx just wanted the candy.

“Horror movie, Scary Girl?” Kodiak rests his arm on the couch behind me. His fingers move to and fro on my shoulder. “One of the Scream movies. Or from the Final Destination franchise?”

“No.” I haven’t been feeling them since my run-in with Marco in the hotel lobby of the last place we stayed. There’s something about my own personal nightmare wearing a mask from one of my favorite movies that suddenly turned me off them.

“Come here, Little Vandal.” Riot has put himself right in the corner of the couch so that his body is angled best for me to rest against and watch the movie.

I lean back on Riot and put my legs over Kodiak’s lap.

Kodiak rests an arm on them and wraps a hand around one of my ankles. “So, what’s the movie?”

Riot puts his arm around my middle. “The Runaways.”

I’m effectively caged in by both guys, and I don’t hate it at all. I pop another Reese’s into my mouth. I lift another up over my head. Riot’s lips tickle my fingers as he takes it. “You get a gold star.”

I offer Kodiak one too. He leans across and I feed it to him.

“Toss me one of those,” Golden says. My aim is ridiculously off, and the candy sails over his head. “What kind of throw was that?”

“Be nice to her.” Riot’s aim is better.

Golden’s grin is wicked. “I’m always very nice to her.”

“Just watch the movie,” Riot says.

I turn my attention to what’s happening on the screen. And so do my guys. Kodiak’s thumb draws a circle around my ankle bone. It feels nice and sends little flutters up higher.

Shark week was brutal. I haven’t had one that bad in a while. But my guys helped me through it. They kept close. Except during show times, at least one of them was always with me. They held me when my cramps were bad. Got me off when the painkillers didn’t control the pain in between doses. Snuggled under a blanket and watched movies with me.
