“Where’s that happening?”
I give a side eye. “Why? You gonna crash it?”
“Like I’d follow you to watch you ogle half naked women.”
I can’t help but think she worded that oddly, but I let it go. “No. Nothing like that. He just wants to hit up the new country bar in Morgan’s Pass.”
“Lit Creek’s rivals? Sounds nice.” She’s saying the words, but her eyes are already closed. The drive back isn’t long, but she’s out cold.
“Teegan,” I say her name softly when we’re outside her house. “Teegan, wake up.”
“Huh?” She throws me a half-lidded look and then leans over the console so that her head is resting on my shoulder.
“We’re at your house, Teegan. Time to go to bed.” The words nearly tangle on my tongue.
“Take me upstairs, Daughtry.”
Shit. That request shot straight to my dick. I know she doesn’t mean it, but it’s hard to convince my lower half of that.
And when she throws her arms around me, it’s even harder to combat.
Damn. She’s crawling over the console and straddling my waist now. “Take me to bed, Daughtry. I need my bed.” She’s stuck on me like a baby sloth.
“Uh…can’t you walk inside, Teegan?”
“No.” She nuzzles her head against my chest. “Too tired. Carry me.”
Damn it.
I swing open the car door and awkwardly get us out of the front seat. I have no idea how she’s strong enough to cling to me but not strong enough to use her legs to walk, but here we are.
I’m doing my best not to touch her, but my forearm is slung under her ass to prop her up.
After a few attempts at the door, I get her inside where she slides off of me and starts ambling toward the stairs.
“So you can walk?” I mutter.
“Nope,” she says as she takes herself upstairs.
Chapter 4
Teegan
“Why do you want to check out this new country bar, again?” Baylor asks me as we show our ID to the bouncer.
“I don’t know. Seemed like a fun idea.” I can’t remember where I heard about it, but it’s always fun to line dance and do the two-step with a man who knows how to dance. Besides, I’m in need of another distraction. Distracting myself from my ex worked really well last night, but now I’m desperate for a distraction from my distraction. I can’t remember everything from last night, but I do remember Daughtry being a big part of it. I know he took me home, and I’m pretty sure I climbed him and made him carry me up to my bed.
It’s like I can’t shake him from my head. And I tried all night to do that, but I woke up with an aching need between my legs for him. I can’t claim that I’m embarrassed to say I polished my magical marble, but I’m a little hesitant to admit I did it while thinking of Daughtry. I vaguely recall correcting his facial expression into something super hot, only to lie to him about it.
But.
It made him laugh. And that was worth it. The craziest thing though? I painted all day today, locked in my loft upstairs. I painted everything that came to mind…which…well, I’m sure is obvious by now. Daughtry. Hence, me needing to get out tonight.
With that in mind, I turn to talk to my friend. “You still listening to your self help audiobooks, Baylor?”
“Yup. But let’s not talk about that tonight. It’s girls night!” She shouts it, raising her hands to the air which makes me laugh.
“Too bad Holly, Dakota, and Savannah couldn’t make it.”
