An Unwanted Western Halloween

Some events had sold out months ago, and I was getting increasingly nervous about everything. Seriously, we need an event planner as soon as possible because Inglorious and I weren’t equipped to handle this.

“Nanci, everything will be fine. You have to stop worrying so much,” Meadow reassured me.

I nodded as she left the office, but I couldn’t shake the sense that things were about to amp up, and it wasn’t because of Phoenix’s little surprise.

Inglorious

“Yo, what’s up?” Drake asked, picking up his phone.

“Gonna ask you outright, brother, and don’t lie to me. Has Phoe meddled with Merritt?”

“That’s just totally random. Why would Phoe do anything to Merritt?”

Was Drake dodging the question? “Because a ghost suddenly popped up in my otherwise spirit-free town.”

“Do you wanna run that past me again?” Drake sounded highly amused.

I ground my teeth. “You heard me, asshole. My brothers are jumping at shadows. Did Phoe do anything to Merritt?”

Drake sighed deeply, and I knew he was about to confess something.

“Look, she and Nanci met at Bernard’s. They are planning a massive Halloween party with several twists. They are putting all their energy into that for you guys, but aside from that, I’m unaware of anything. Honestly, I don’t think Phoe’s done anything yet.”

Drake sounded worried, which meant he believed Phoe was up to something, but he was worried about his club, not mine. So, wherever Merritt Mike had suddenly sprung from, it wasn’t Phoe. Holy crap, did my town actually have a bona fide ghost?

“Thanks. Looks like I’ve got some investigating to do,” I said. We exchanged goodbyes, and I hung up. I guess I’d better look into the ghost. I had a bad feeling about this.

“You lie so beautifully,” Phoe whispered as she straddled my lap.

I smiled as I cupped her ass and squeezed. Phoe nipped my ear and trailed kisses down my jawline before claiming my lips.

“If I hadn’t lied,” I said softly, kissing her again. “You would’ve unleashed your evil genius upon Rage. It’s much more fun watching an ally suffer.”

“Mmmm,” Phoe murmured as she pushed her pelvis forwards to nestle against my hard cock. I grinned until Phoe whispered in my ear, “The Unwanted Bastards might not be the only ally I messed with this year.”

I stiffened in my seat, and not because I was aroused. “Who have you fucked with?” I demanded, trying to be firm as Phoe’s hands slid up my T-shirt to caress my bare skin.

She rotated her hips, and I couldn’t stop the groan leaving my lips. God, this woman was my kryptonite; one touch, and I was hers.

Phoe’s mouth touched my skin, and I lost my train of thought.

I sucked hard on the vape, took a deep drag, held it for a few seconds, then blew it into the air. I’d dealt with an incident at the mine today and was still trying to figure it out. One of the tour guides had called me, complaining about a hysterical woman who claimed to have seen a ghost. When I arrived, several others were also claiming the same thing. Talk about mass hysteria.

I heard movement and guessed a brother had come out of the clubhouse. While none of us actually smoked, several of us vaped, and I guessed it was one of them. Instead, I was surprised when I saw it was our newest member, Chap’s nephew, Asgard.

“What’s up, brother?” I asked.

“I needed air; I felt like the walls were closing in on me,” he replied.

Shifting slightly to face him, I studied his tense look. “How is therapy going?” I asked bluntly.

Asgard chuckled dryly. “Can always rely on you, Lieutenant, to be blunt.”

“If I didn’t give a shit, kid, I wouldn’t bother asking. How are you handling everything?”
