Ugh.
I don't know.
A friend way.
A magical way.

So, I've also been avoiding Dora.
Not entirely.
I mean, we work together. She's my best friend.
Avoiding her completely would require changing my name and fleeing New Jersey.
But I don't seek her out. I don't eat lunch with her. I don't stop by her classroom. And when she texts asking how I'm doing, I answer with thumbs-up emojis like a passive-aggressive teenager.

“You sent me a thumbs-up emoji when I asked if you wanted to get dinner.”
“It's a versatile emoji.”
“Aggie.”
I sigh.
“Fine. Maybe I've been avoiding you a little.”
Her face softens.
“Did something happen with Grimm?”
My shoulder throbs beneath my blouse. Probably psychosomatic.
Probably.
“We had sex. And now he’s just gone.”
