I take another bite.
Still...
Something about that answer feels strange.
Familiar. But then Dora asks Grimm something about the restaurant, and the moment disappears.
By the time dinner ends, I'm pleasantly full, pleasantly warm from the wine, and dangerously attracted to Grimm Palermo.
The limousine takes us back through Castor's Corner.
Dora and Wulfy are dropped off first. Dora hugs me before climbing out. Then she whispers directly into my ear.
“Invite him inside.”
I shove her toward Wulfy.
“Goodnight, Dora.”
She cackles.
Actually cackles.
Wulfy looks between Grimm and me before getting out. His expression is unreadable.
“Grimm.”
“Wulfredo.”
Something passes between them. Something I don't understand.
Then Wulfy nods.
The door closes.
And suddenly I'm alone in a limousine with Grimm Palermo.
Very alone.
The privacy divider is up. The lights are low. Grimm sits across from me.
I become intensely aware of my breathing.
And my thighs.
And my breasts.
And every other part of my body I've successfully ignored throughout dinner.
“So.”
“So,” he echoes.
“That was fun.”
“It was.”
“I like your friends.”
