“She sent me a nude earlier? But no, I’m not sharing that either.”

I nod toward his arm, noting the charcoal-colored smudge. Paint, perhaps? “What’s on your wrist?”

Thor gives it a small glance and shrugs. “Project I was working on.” He brushes the salt off his fingers and begins to shuffle the deck of cards beside him.

Before I can ask about the project, Logan interjects. “Girlfriend, huh? So, you’ve moved out of the crawlspace, I take it?”

“I’m allowed on the bed now,” I announce loftily.

Thor nods with approval. “Ooh, upgrade.”

I make a little raspberry sandwich using two thin slices of sharp cheddar. Flavor explosion. Total upgrade indeed . . .

“Maybe it’s time you meet somebody and quit moping all the time,” I suggest, eyeing Thor.

“I’d say you two ought to find more time to hang out with friends, but I’m actually enjoying building furniture in my workshop.”

“Is that what the kids are calling it these days?” Logan asks, pantomiming rolling dice.

I set my container of food on the table and hop up to get a drink from the fridge.

Thor nudges the container out of the way. “Your Tupperware takes up too much space,” he complains.

“Excuse me,” I say, sitting down and cracking into a soda. “That is Pyrex.”

Logan slaps the table. “Oh my God, it’s Pyrex!”

Rolling my eyes, I ignore them. They’re just jealous.

“He’s gone soft,” Thor states, shaking his head.

I raise a brow. I spent my last appointment daydreaming torture methods, but sure.

“Nah.” Logan lifts his chin at me. “See that? He’s got that look. That fucked-up look he gets when he’s up to no good.”

“I have an excellent poker face.”

“No, you don’t,” Thor says, looking to Logan for backup. “That’s literally why we invite you.”

“And why we don’t invite Kelly or Frankie.”

That’s true, those two are animated as fuck until they have something to hide. Even to me, it’s weird.

Thor snaps his fingers at me. “Wait, that’s right! You’ve got your asbestos removal! How’s that going, by the way?”

I chuckle. “Almost done.”

“Was it a big renovation project?” Logan asks.

“Three rooms.”

Thor drags his gaze from Logan to me. “And how many have you completed?”

“Two.”

He whistles, nodding approvingly.

I bite into one of the fat green grapes with a juicy snap. “Holy shit, have you guys tried these things?”
