Casper

Your nails?

Yes.

Casper

I’m not more important than your manicure?

Nope.

Casper

Well, send me a pic. Let’s see how you did.

I take a photo, then delete it.

You’ll have to wait until the next time I see you.

Casper

What a tease.

After the longest, most boring meeting in the world, I take a break to get a snack from the pantry. I pad into the kitchen and retrieve the box of granola bars, but it’s too light—it’s empty. I wouldn’t have taken the last one and not thrown the box out . . . would I? My forehead wrinkles at the bizarre occurrence, but I break the box down and put it in the recycling before opting for an orange instead.

It’s not the first time I’ve experienced strange happenings. I’m not someone who believes in ghosts or haunted houses, but this building is over a hundred years old. Lately I’ve been hearing footsteps that sound like they’re in my apartment, yet when I walk through it, there’s nothing. A few weeks ago I swear my pillows were switched around. Random cabinet doors left open. There’s this overwhelming feeling like I’m not alone, and it creeps me out. And, the weirdest one of all, my vibrator has been acting up. I’m sure that’s a separate issue altogether, but it’s still annoying.

Do you believe in ghosts?

Casper

No, but they believe in me.

Casper

What about you?

No, but I believe in ghosts.

Casper

Rude.

Okay, I don’t believe in the supernatural, but I think my place might be haunted.

Casper

Lol why?

I just went to get a granola bar from the kitchen and the box is empty.

Casper

And naturally, your first thought was “it must be ghosts”?

No! There’s other weird stuff too. Hearing footsteps, cabinets left open, things in my apartment getting moved around.
