He stuck his tongue out just as Felix came, his release spurting over not only Zane’s lips and tongue but his cheeks, nose and lashes, causing him to squeeze his eyes shut before he ended up looking like he had pink eye.

Bruises were hard enough to explain to the press. Having to make an official statement that he didn’t have pink eye, but a husband with really good aim—or bad aim—was impossible.

As soon as Felix carefully sat back down on Zane’s chest, breathing heavily, they both burst out laughing.

“Keep your eyes closed,” Felix warned, still laughing.

Zane felt the bed shift slightly, then settle again. Felix dabbed at Zane’s eyes with a tissue from the side table, still giggling.

“Okay, you can open your eyes.”

Zane blinked them open, then smiled up at Felix. “Hi.”

“Hey, Zaney.”

Something warm and stupid bloomed in Zane’s chest.

Felix slid off his chest, then sat cross-legged beside him on the bed, facing him. “Did you enjoy your birthday last night?” he asked with a smirk.

Oh, right. That.

Zane punched Felix in the thigh, the closest thing to him while he was lying down.

“I can’t believe you fucking told Asa what I said about him not being able to fuck me without hurting me. What happened to the bro code?”

“You didn’t ask me to keep it a secret,” Felix reminded him, reaching over Zane to grab the near-destroyed cake from the side table and bringing the whole thing into his lap.

Zane gave him another sullen look.

“I didn’t think I had to. We were drunk.”

“You were drunk,” Felix said, swiping a finger through the buttercream frosting. “I was tipsy.”

Zane slapped his thigh hard just as Felix smeared frosting across his lips.

Felix balked at Zane, then rubbed his thigh. “Ow. You don’t have to hit me.”

“You didn’t have to tell Asa,” Zane said, licking the frosting from his lips.

Felix sighed. “Okay, maybe not, but violence is never the answer.”

Zane snorted. “We’re Mulvaneys. Even if the question was multiple choice, three of the answers would be violence and the last would be violence in cursive. You have an entire jewelry collection that doubles as a weapons collection.”

Felix rolled his eyes. “Was the sex that bad?”

Zane scoffed. “Is it ever?”

“Was it good?” he prodded.

Zane swiped a finger through the cake and offered it to Felix, who sucked the frosting from his finger.

“Yeah, it was actually kind of amazing.”

Felix narrowed his eyes. “Hah. I knew it. I want every single dirty detail.”

“Fine. Later. Can we eat cake in bed and watch Vincenzo?” Zane asked, then added quickly, “Unless you’re going to the office. You don’t have to waste the whole day with me.”

Felix’s lips flattened, and he reached out, pinching Zane’s ribs until he yelped.
